Discover one of our favourite Spring hikes: Le Sentier des Narcisses

Did you know that from April to June, the hills above Montreux are dusted in what we call the “Snow of May”? But don’t be fooled—it’s not snow at all, but fields of blooming wild narcissus flowers!

You can witness this magical sight in places like Les Pléiades or along the beautiful trail called Le Sentier des Narcisses, starting from Les Avants, just above Montreux.

Right now, the narcissus are in full bloom, making it the perfect moment for a weekend hiking adventure!

🌿 A few helpful tips:

💮 There’s a dedicated website where you can check the flowering status of the narcissus along different trails in the region.

🐾 Please don’t pick the flowers or walk on them—that includes keeping your dog off the blooms too!

🕦 Weekends can be busy on the trail, so if you can, I highly recommend going during the week. We took our photos on a Friday in Les Pléiades and Les Avants. The one in Mont Pèlerin is less crowded, but you have to walk a bit more to access the Narcisses.

🦮 If your dog isn’t perfectly under voice control or if the trail is crowded with other dogs and hikers, please keep them on a leash to protect the flowers and ensure a calm environment for everyone.

🚂  Planning to go by train from Montreux? Look out for the Belle Époque train, a beautifully vintage train that sometimes runs on this route. You can check the CFF/SBB website to see if it's scheduled—it’s clearly marked in the timetable.
