It’s almost the weekend, and if you’re still figuring out plans, don’t worry—we’ve got you and your dog covered! Check out these 5 easy winter hikes that are perfect for you and your furry friend. There’s nothing more magical than enjoying snow-covered trails under a bright winter sun!

 

La Givrine (St-Cergue, VD)

This stunning winter hike takes you above the clouds from La Givrine to Saint-Cergue, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

🥾 Trail Route: La Givrine → Combe Grasse → Fruitières de Nyon → Saint-Cergue
🕘 Duration: About 2 hours, or 3 hours if you take a lunch break. There are benches near Combe Grasse for a stop.
🐾 Dog-Friendly Notes: We encountered plenty of dogs along the trail! You can let your dog off the leash, but only if they’re well-trained as there is also the ski trail crossing.

Lac Rétaud (Les Diablerets, VD)

This charming winter hike offers serene alpine views and a peaceful escape to Lac Rétaud, perfect for a day out with your dog.

🥾 Trail Route: Start at Col du Pillon → Hike to Lac Rétaud → Return to Col du Pillon (Glacier 3000).

🕘 Duration: Approximately 2 hours. You can stop at Lac Rétaud for a break—there are benches and a cozy restaurant to enjoy.

🐾 Dog-Friendly Notes: The Lac Rétaud hike is a loop, but you can continue all the way to Les Diablerets for an extended walk.

Chemin des Lanternes (Crans-Montana, VS)

Discover the magical charm of Crans-Montana by night with this walk along the lanterns.

🥾 Trail Route: A simple loop through the Crans-Montana city center. The walk begins at 17h, so you can enjoy the illuminated lanterns.

🕘 Duration: About 2 km of flat and easy walking

🎫 Entry Fee: CHF 13 per person, but dogs enter for free.
🕘 Duration: This is more of a short promenade than a hike, making it perfect for a leisurely outing.
🫕 Food Stops: Blausee offers several restaurants to suit all budgets, and we highly recommend trying the trout—it’s delicious!
🐕 Dog-Friendly Notes: Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

🐾 Pro Tip: For those looking for a longer hike, start in Kandersteg and walk to Blausee. It’s a beautiful and scenic route, perfect for more active hikers.

Oeschinensee (BE)

No winter hiking guide would be complete without mentioning Oeschinensee! In winter, the lake freezes over, creating a magical setting where you can walk on the ice or even try some fun ice activities.

🥾 Trail Route: Start from the Kandersteg gondolas, which take you to the trailhead. The hike forms a scenic loop around the area.
🐕 Dog-Friendly Notes: The gondola ride is free for dogs.
🕘 Duration: The loop is mostly flat and takes about 1 hour to complete.
