Here is a selection of easy winter walks in Valais, perfect if you are looking for simple, accessible, and beautiful ideas to do in winter. They are easy & short, making them doable with family or with an older dog, for example.

Lantern Trail in Crans-Montana
The Lantern Trail (Chemin des Lanternes) is a must-do winter walk in Valais. The route is about 2 km long, mostly flat, and is illuminated from 5 p.m. until March. On-site, a small refreshment stall offers raclette, fondue, and hot dogs: perfect for warming up after the walk.
Our tips:
- Go at 5 p.m., that way you still have a view of the mountains and can enjoy the sunset.
- We went on a Sunday evening and it was very crowded, so avoid Saturday night.
- The path can be slippery in places
- Be aware, it gets very crowded. If your dog is fearful, this might not be ideal.

The start is at the Étang Long / Moubra roundabout and is easily accessible by bus.
Längfluh Circuit – Saas-Fee
A short and easy winter walk in Valais that you absolutely must do if you love alpine landscapes. From Saas-Fee, take the two cable cars up to Längfluh. On-site, a short trail (about 30 minutes) allows you to admire an incredible view of the surrounding mountains and, above all, the glacier.
Even though the walk is short, it is well worth the trip!

Champex Lake Loop
The walk around Lake Champex is an easy winter stroll, ideal if you are looking for a postcard-perfect landscape. In fact, it is nicknamed Switzerland's "Little Canada". In the middle of winter, when it gets cold enough, the lake freezes over and it is sometimes possible to go ice skating there in a majestic setting. If that is not the case, the walk around the lake takes about 30 minutes on a nice trail accessible to everyone. You can also take the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat at one of the restaurants along the lake.
